I just watched this documentary and I was overwhelmed. The dedication of these biologists is pure passion. The cinematography and underwater photography is amazing. I was not familiar with the term “bleaching” and I certainly didn’t realize that it was something that happened in months, not years.
The film opens with Richard Vevars explaining that he was an advertising guy who liked diving. One day he decided that he wanted to do something better with his life and set out to document the ocean like Google maps. When he was young, his favourite sea creature was the Weedy Seadragon, he started to wonder why he wasn’t seeing as many of these creatures as he used to and, long story short, this documentary was born. If you are like me, you own a couple of different wardrobes. Casual, work, bling, and boating – in all 4 seasons – and multiple sizes. Some clothes cross over so it’s not like you can just have separate closets and, after a while, it can all become a blur. You know you have a problem when you are in the store and you see a blouse you just HAVE to have only to realize, when you get home, you have two of them already. I blame Costco for this.
