Gray whales have the longest migrations of any mammal! During their spring northern migration they are quite close to shore, which means we get to see them as they pass by Ucluelet and Tofino during March and April. Subtidal Adventures and the Pacific Rim Whale Festival welcome their return. In addition to our regularly scheduled whale watching trips, we have partnered with the Pacific Rim Whale Festival offering three special trips called “Marine Mammal Research Day”. In addition to our really smart captains, a local marine researcher joins us for a fun-filled research trip by zodiac boat in Barkley Sound on March 20, 22, or 24, 9:30 am departure. Subtidal Adventures introduces you to local marine mammals and involve you in identifying individual whales and their habits. Book early for this very popular event; 2.5 – 3 hour tour length. This is a Partnered event: 25% of proceeds go to support the Whale festival. If those dates do not work for you, choose one of our other departures. Our boat captains are very happy to share their vast knowledge
