The Great Ogopogo Bathtub Race was first held by Summerland Yacht Club in 2015 to raise funds for equipment for the new Penticton Regional Hospital Tower. Since then, over $74,000.00 has been raised for this great cause. Sponsors, racers and race attendees have made this possible.

Summerland Yacht Club was founded 64 years ago as a non-profit society dedicated to providing boating facilities to members and the public. Today, the club has about 200 members, and stages numerous sailing events throughout the summer as well as operating a restaurant, which is open to everyone for casual dining. The club relies strongly on volunteers, and has become a part of the fabric of the Summerland community. Staging this event gives us an opportunity to engage the community and at the same time raise funds for a project that touches all of us.
