SUMMARY:Wine Beyond the Buzzwords
DESCRIPTION:If you are looking for an engaging\, approachable evening ideal for all levels of wine drinkers\, come and decode wine terms.\n\n\nWe hear terms like organic\, low-intervention\, natural\, sustainable\, vegan\, low sugar\, and low-alcohol everywhere\, but what do they actually mean in the glass? If you are looking for an engaging\, approachable evening ideal for all levels of wine drinkers\, come and decode today’s most talked-about wine terms. You will explore how these buzzwords translate into the bottle without the jargon and taste first hand how thoughtful farming and winemaking choices shape the wines we drink today. This guided tasting is hosted by Jasmine Montgomery\, sommelier and founder of Fenix Cellars\, she has 2 decades in the wine and hospitality industry with 15 of them spent in Mendoza Argentina. Featured Wines by Bodega Clement\, Mendoza ArgentinaWhy Argentina? Argentina is quietly leading the way in many of these conversations\, with organically farmed vineyards\, low-intervention winemaking\, heritage varietals\, and naturally balanced wines that rely less on heavy manipulation and more on place. This tasting highlights that evolution through a carefully curated lineup. This tasting includes five low-intervention\, sustainably sourced wines from Bodega Clement\, a producer founded by Lis Clement\, creator of Malbec World Day and a pioneer of modern Argentine wine.

SUMMARY:Salute to the Sockeye
DESCRIPTION:Salute to the Sockeye is the large\, once-every-four-years celebration of the dominant sockeye run at the Adams River. The event blends cultural ceremonies\, interpretive programming\, and a big artisan market to honour the salmon and local Indigenous traditions. \nKey features to expect\nOpening ceremonies and cultural events\nTraditional welcomes and performances from Little Shuswap Lake Band and other local Secwépemc cultural programming. \nEducational interpretive program\nFisheries and Oceans Canada delivers free school programs for Grades 2 to 5 during the event\, with hands-on exhibits and guided walks. Teachers register directly with DFO. \nInterpretive cabin and walkabouts\nOn-site cabin exhibits include life-size spawning displays\, storyboards\, interactive touch screens\, and guided interpretive walks. \nArtisan and souvenir markets\nLocal makers\, First Nations artists\, and food vendors offer crafts\, art\, and regional products across the site. \nVisitor info and hours for Salute to the Sockeye\nThe festival generally opens around 8:30 AM and runs to roughly 4:30 PM on event days. Opening ceremony details list a Wednesday ceremony on October 7\, 2026 while the full dates are confirmed closer to the event. Confirm times and any visitor requirements before you go. \nPractical tips\nArrive early for quieter viewing and the best chance to join interpretive walks. Bring sturdy shoes for trails and layered clothing for variable mountain weather. Pack a small pouch for your phone to protect it from spray and mud.
