DESCRIPTION:Paper Cover’s Rock and Poppy’s Place are hosting a new weekly writer’s meet-up!\nStarting Sept. 20th\, you can drop into Poppy’s for a few protected hours each week on Fridays. You can use our prompts to warm up\, or you can work on an existing project. You will meet other writers and have the opportunity to discuss your work\, celebrate achievements\, troubleshoot challenges\, and participate in monthly readings.\nPoppy’s offers an inspiring and comfortable place to work\, with tea and coffee on hand. DESCRIPTION:Poetry Open Mic featuring: Lorna Crozier\nAn Officer of the Order of Canada\, Lorna Crozier has been acknowledged for her contributions to Canadian literature\, her teaching and her mentoring with five honorary doctorates\, most recently from McGill and Simon Fraser Universities. Her books have received numerous national awards\, including the Governor-General’s Award for Poetry. Her book\, What the Soul Doesn’t Want\, was nominated for the 2017 Governor General’s Award for Poetry. In 2018\, Lorna Crozier received the George Woodcock Lifetime Achievement Award. Steven Price called Through the Garden: A Love Story (with Cats)\, her latest nonfiction book\, “one of the great love stories of our time.” After That is her most recent collection of poetry. Lorna Crozier lives on Vancouver Island.\nSign-up for the open mic starts at 6:45. One poem per reader\, max. 3 minutes.\nLibrary Community Program Room.
