Expect more than 20\,000 books across 30-plus genres\, a curated bling room with vintage and designer pieces\, and a friendly\, community-first vibe that makes browsing feel like a treasure hunt with your savviest friend. \nKey dates & hours\n\nMembers Preview Night\, Thursday November 6\, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (members only).\nPublic sale\, Friday November 7 to Saturday November 8\, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.\nFinal sale day\, Sunday November 9\, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.\n\nWhat to expect at Salt Spring Books And Bling Sale\nYou will find well organized tables of fiction and nonfiction\, a children’s section with bargain prices\, and a Bling Room featuring designer\, vintage and costume jewelry priced from about $2 to $200. Special\, valuable volumes are appraised and displayed separately. All proceeds support Salt Spring Literacy programs for children\, youth\, adults and seniors. \nBooks accepted and not accepted\nAccepted examples\nRecent fiction and literature\, children’s and YA\, arts and crafts\, gardening\, cooking\, biographies\, history\, science\, and more. \nNot accepted examples\nBooks with missing pages\, moldy or damaged books\, textbooks\, workbooks\, dictionaries\, Bibles or other religious texts\, magazines\, and older technical computer books. \nVolunteers and membership\nVolunteers are essential to the sale\, from sorting donations to floor shifts during the event. DESCRIPTION:Poetry Open Mic featuring: Lorna Crozier\nAn Officer of the Order of Canada\, Lorna Crozier has been acknowledged for her contributions to Canadian literature\, her teaching and her mentoring with five honorary doctorates\, most recently from McGill and Simon Fraser Universities. Her books have received numerous national awards\, including the Governor-General’s Award for Poetry. Her book\, What the Soul Doesn’t Want\, was nominated for the 2017 Governor General’s Award for Poetry. In 2018\, Lorna Crozier received the George Woodcock Lifetime Achievement Award. Steven Price called Through the Garden: A Love Story (with Cats)\, her latest nonfiction book\, “one of the great love stories of our time.” After That is her most recent collection of poetry.
