Enjoy food and drink from the concession stand at the park. \nThe 30 km Rod Run cruise starts Friday evening and is led by local RCMP\, with 450+ classic cars winding their way through more than 3\,000 spectators that line the highway—the cars cruise from Sechelt to the Halfmoon Bay Fire Hall. \nParticipants are always amazed at the warm welcome and enthusiasm of the cheering crowds that gather alongside the roadway. DESCRIPTION:Free Bronze Medallion & Cross Course\n\n\nFree Bronze Medallion & Bronze Cross Combo Course \nThis is a free 40-hour combined Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross certification course offered by the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon\, made possible through funding from the Island Health Youth Resiliency Grant.  \nThis program is designed to bring nationally recognized lifesaving certifications to youth in rural and remote coastal communities where access to these courses is typically limited or unavailable. \nWhat You’ll Learn \nBronze Medallion is the Lifesaving Society’s flagship lifesaving certification. Candidates develop the judgment\, knowledge\, skill\, and fitness needed to make effective rescue decisions in\, on\, and around the water. Training covers self-rescue techniques\, defense and release methods\, and tows and carries for a range of emergency scenarios — including spinal injuries and circulatory emergencies. Candidates also build stroke efficiency and endurance through a timed swim component. Bronze Medallion includes CPR-A certification. \nBronze Cross builds on your Medallion training and begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding. Candidates strengthen their rescue skills while learning the principles of active surveillance and safety supervision in aquatic facilities. The course emphasizes teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies\, and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards. Bronze Cross includes CPR-C certification and is a prerequisite for the Lifesaving Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. \nWho Can Register \nParticipants must be 13-24 years of age\, those younger than 13 are allowed if they hold a current Bronze Star award. Candidates should be comfortable in the water. No prior lifesaving certifications are required. \nWhat’s Included \nThis course is offered at no cost to participants. Course materials (Canadian Lifesaving Manual)\, certification fees\, and instruction are all covered through program funding. \nImportant Details \n100% attendance is mandatory for both the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross portions of the course. Please bring a wetsuit (if you have one)\, swimsuit\, towel\, pen\, and paper to each session. Successful candidates will receive both a Bronze Medallion medal and a Bronze Cross medal along with electronic certifications from the Lifesaving Society. \nAbout This Program \nThis initiative is part of a broader effort by the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon to increase youth access to lifesaving education and drowning prevention training across British Columbia’s West Coast. Ideal for nervous system restoration\, recovery from illness or surgery\, clarity for personal problems and connecting to a higher sense of seld and support. \n \nCommon experiences are reduced anxiety\, lightened mood\, mental clarity\, improved sleep quality\, relief of physical pain and imbalances\, emotional release\, heightened perception and intuitive connection. \n \nIn our time together\, you’ll be gently guided through a grounding meditation before being lulled by the healing frequencies of quartz crystal singing bowls\, channeled vocals\, chimes\, and other healing instrumentals. As the body relaxes\, the linear mind slows down\, and opens space for deeper insight\, healing and connection. \n \nPlease bring yoga mats or cushy padding\, a pillow\, blankets to stay warm\, an eye cover (optional though recommended) a water bottle and any other supportive props for your comfort. Think cozy\, healing nest vibes! Bring it all! \n \nYou will need: \na yoga mat\, or padding to lay on (sleeping bags\, lounge chair padding or foamies are great. We will be on the floor so please dont be shy to bring what you need for comfort. If laying down is an issue\, gravity chairs work well or contact me to inquire about options) \na pillow \na blanket(s) to cover you \neye cover (optional though reccomended) \nyour water bottle \nany other props to make yourself more comfortable; bolsters\, an extra pillow or rolled up blanket for under your knees\, etc. \n \nHow to Prepare: \nDress comfortably \nAVOID perfumes and heavy scents the day of and refrain from smoking beforehand \nHydrate well in the days leading up \nOur time together will begin at 11am and end at approximately 1pm. \nPlease arrive anytime after 10:45am to get settled. \nPLEASE NOTE: Refunds are not available but you are welcome to give your spot to someone in your place.
