DESCRIPTION:The Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy's Pacific Blue Big Band presents a fundraising concert to support the next generation of Jazz\n\n\nDrawing from both classic and contemporary big band repertoire\, this 18 piece ensemble presents music from the Swing era to the funk hits of today. This concert launches the Georgia Straight Jazz Society Award at Capilano University\, an initiative designed to help young musicians to pursue post-secondary studies in jazz. This year\, five young musicians from the Valley who are enrolled in Capilano University’s Jazz studies program will take part in the concert as the Courtenay-Capilano Quintet. The Quintet will play from 6:15 until 6:45.  Show up early to catch their performance!
