I guess in this new era of wearable technology, it was only a matter of time before someone came out with this. La Roche-Posay, which is owned by L’Oréal, has invented a disposable electronic patch that works with a mobile app to monitor your sun exposure for up to five days. You simply put the blue and white, heart-shaped sticker on an area prone to burning, take a picture and upload it with your smart device for real time feedback. The patch contains photosensitive dyes that factor in your skin tone and changes colour when exposed to UV rays to indicate varying levels or sun exposure. The App also provides information about local weather and the level of UV. My UV Patch was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and is said to be available for Canadians in limited quantities, at no cost, from May to August. I contacted Shopper’s but they have not heard of it and I have not been able to find the app on-line at iTunes or Google Play.
