Ingredients
  

For the Dough:
  • 3/4 Cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • 1 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Molasses
For Flavor & Texture:
  • 2 Cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground cloves
For Rolling:
  • 1/4 Cup Granulated sugar

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack

Method
 

Making the Dough:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and molasses until fully combined.
Mixing the Dry Ingredients:
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
Combining the Mixtures:
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shaping the Cookies:
  1. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat.
Baking & Cooling:
  1. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  3. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
