Homemade Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Homemade Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
  

For the Dough:
  • 1 Cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • 2/3 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large Egg yolks
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 Cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
For the Filling:
  • 1/2 Cup Jam or fruit preserves (any flavor)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack

Method
 

Making the Dough:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shaping the Cookies:
  1. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Creating Thumbprints & Filling:
  1. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to create small indentations in the center of each ball.
  2. Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
Baking & Cooling:
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
