The Art of the Docktail

Fancy cocktails that are not actually fancy. Aft Deck Society is about the ritual of the docktail: what to keep aboard, what you can skip, and the clever little shortcuts that make a beautiful drink surprisingly easy.

From practical bar tools and smart substitutions to favourite spirits, finishing touches and recipes made for the end of a boating day, this is my guide to making the occasion feel special without turning it into a production.

PERFECT FOR

Boaters Who Like a Little Ceremony at the End of the Day

For anyone who loves a beautiful cocktail but does not want a fussy one; wants a useful boat bar without sacrificing half a cupboard; and appreciates ingredients, substitutions and little finishing touches that actually make sense aboard.

A NOTE FROM MISSY

It Was Never Really About the Cocktail.

For me, the docktail is the punctuation mark at the end of a boating day.

It is the moment the engines are off, the lines are secure or the anchor is set, and everyone finally settles in. Sometimes the drink is elaborate. Most of the time, it only looks that way.

I wrote Aft Deck Society to collect the things I have learned about making that ritual easier aboard: the gear I actually use, the substitutions that make sense on a boat, the ingredients worth storing and the recipes that feel special without requiring a bartender's pantry.
