Books and Bling is Salt Spring Literacy’s biggest annual fundraiser and one of the region’s best places to find gently used books and eclectic jewelry. Expect more than 20,000 books across 30-plus genres, a curated bling room with vintage and designer pieces, and a friendly, community-first vibe that makes browsing feel like a treasure hunt with your savviest friend.
You will find well organized tables of fiction and nonfiction, a children’s section with bargain prices, and a Bling Room featuring designer, vintage and costume jewelry priced from about $2 to $200. Special, valuable volumes are appraised and displayed separately. All proceeds support Salt Spring Literacy programs for children, youth, adults and seniors.
Recent fiction and literature, children’s and YA, arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, biographies, history, science, and more.
Books with missing pages, moldy or damaged books, textbooks, workbooks, dictionaries, Bibles or other religious texts, magazines, and older technical computer books.
Volunteers are essential to the sale, from sorting donations to floor shifts during the event. If you want to help, sign up early via the Books & Bling volunteer page or email bbsl@saltspringliteracy.org. Membership is $10 and gives access to Preview Night and member buying privileges.
Event details, donation windows, and volunteer needs are confirmed on the Salt Spring Literacy Books & Bling page. Check their site the week of the event for any last-minute updates.
