The Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival is North America’s largest celebration of wooden boats – three days of boat displays, hands-on demonstrations, races, panel talks, kids’ workshops, live music and waterfront camaraderie. Plan to see a huge variety of classics, newly built wooden skiffs and serious shipwright skill in action.
The festival hub is the Northwest Maritime Center in downtown Port Townsend. Parking is limited – arrive early or use shuttles/ferries if you can. Hotels and B&Bs sell out quickly, so book ahead if you’re staying overnight.
Mornings are quieter on the docks and the light is perfect for photos. Pack a windbreaker, sunscreen, and maybe a snack – you’ll end up staying longer than you planned.
