Quite often we leave our boat in Saltspring and walk on the ferry on Sunday night to work for the week and then walk on the ferry, the following Friday or Saturday, to get back to the boat. On our last couple of trips, we were shocked, and almost stranded, to find out that there is a limit to the number of foot passengers. This is even more upsetting if you miss the noon ferry on Saturday to Long Harbour and there isn’t another one until 7:20 p.m. that makes 3 stops along the way! BC Ferries is now allowing foot passengers to make a reservation at no charge. This is the info from the website:
Book your foot passenger travel in advance for more travel certainty, a faster check-in process at the terminal, and safer travel by reducing contact between customers and employees.
