Homemade Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Homemade Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
  

For the Dough:

  • 1 Cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • 2/3 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large Egg yolks
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 Cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 Cup Jam or fruit preserves (any flavor)

Instructions
 

Making the Dough:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in egg yolks and vanilla extract until well blended.
  • Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Shaping the Cookies:

  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.

Creating Thumbprints & Filling:

  • Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to create small indentations in the center of each ball.
  • Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.

Baking & Cooling:

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
