Homemade Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 1 Cup Unsalted butter Softened
- 2/3 Cup Granulated sugar
- 2 Large Egg yolks
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 2 Cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
For the Filling:
- 1/2 Cup Jam or fruit preserves (any flavor)
Instructions
Making the Dough:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg yolks and vanilla extract until well blended.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shaping the Cookies:
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Creating Thumbprints & Filling:
- Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to create small indentations in the center of each ball.
- Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
Baking & Cooling:
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
