Coastal Provisioning and the Art of Dining Well! Insider Tips & Tricks
I am delighted to be joining Voyage Makers Coastal Adventures for the 2nd Annual Taste of B.C. – Eating Well in Coastal B.C. as part of the Taste of B.C. Event at Port Sidney Marina on Saturday, May 23rd from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m.
This special afternoon is about one of my favourite topics: how to live and eat well while exploring coastal British Columbia. Because let’s be honest. Summer cruising is not just about destinations. It is also about oysters on the aft deck, a proper breakfast at anchor, finding the best bakery in a harbour town, and knowing how to pull together something lovely on board without stress.
Join us at the Taste of B.C. An event at Port Sidney Marina to explore local flavours and meet fellow food lovers.

Many people assume eating well on a boat is complicated. They picture cramped galleys, wilted lettuce, and a heroic can of beans rolling in a drawer. But coastal boating can be wonderfully delicious when you know a few tricks:
- how to provision smartly before departure
- what fresh foods last longest
- how to build flexible meal plans
- how to entertain without turning your boat into a catering operation
- where to find memorable local food stops along the coast
- what products actually make life easier
That is what this afternoon is all about. Whether you are a seasoned cruiser or just beginning your boating journey, you’ll leave with ideas you can use immediately.
A Celebration of Coastal B.C.
One of the great pleasures of boating in British Columbia is access to extraordinary food culture.
We have:
- world-class seafood
- farm markets
- artisan bakeries
- island wineries and cideries
- local cheeses
- small producers doing wonderful things
- charming waterfront towns worth docking for lunch alone
The coast offers far more than scenery. It offers flavour. And when you know where to look, your cruise becomes richer in every sense.
My Book Launch – Hot Off The Press!
I’ll also be sharing an exclusive first look at my new boating lifestyle publications created for modern boaters who appreciate practicality and style.
Coastal Galley
Clever tips for provisioning, organizing, and cooking on modern boats. This is for anyone who has ever overpacked groceries and underpacked dinner.
This is a practical, elegant guide for cruisers who want their time on the water to feel calm, capable, and genuinely enjoyable, especially when it comes to food, drink and entertaining.
Aft Deck Society
The art of the docktail. Easy entertaining, better drinks, and making the most of those golden summer evenings at a marina or at anchor.
Teak Table
Elegant entertaining on board. Thoughtful touches, beautiful tables, and the reminder that your boat is already a special occasion.
These books were written to make boating life easier, more enjoyable, and considerably more stylish.
Voyage Makers’ Port to Palate™
Another highlight of the event is the curated guide from Voyage Makers Coastal Adventures:
Port to Palate™
An insider’s guide to the best places to dine, provision, and taste the finest of coastal B.C. Frankly, this is dangerous information in the best possible way. Once you know where the excellent pastries, seafood shacks, hidden wine lists, and worthy dockside lunches are, your route planning may become suspiciously food-motivated.

Local Tastings
There will also be tastings featuring flavours from some of B.C.’s finest local vendors. This is one of my favourite ways to discover products worth bringing aboard. A good preserve, cracker, olive oil, spice blend, or treat can transform simple boat meals into something memorable. Never underestimate the morale power of an excellent snack.
Why You Should Come
You should come if:
- you cruise coastal B.C.
- you want smarter provisioning ideas
- you’re tired of the same three boat meals
- you enjoy entertaining friends on board
- you love discovering local food producers
- you’d like inspiration for summer cruising
- you appreciate practical ideas with style
- you’d simply enjoy an afternoon at the marina with good people
You do not need to be a gourmet. You merely need taste and curiosity.
About the Seaside Talks & Training Series
This event is part of the Seaside Talks & Training Series, a weekly dockside program by Voyage Makers Coastal Adventures designed to help people get more from their time on the coast—whether boating, paddling, or exploring the shoreline.
I love this idea.
My Personal Invitation
If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you know I believe boating should feel rewarding, not chaotic.
A little planning.
A little organization.
A little West Coast elegance.
A proper drink.
Good company.
And dinner with grace. That is the sweet spot.
So if you’re near Sidney, I would love to see you at Port Sidney Marina for the 2nd Annual Taste of B.C.
