Why I Love It
Why I Bought It
Some nights onboard, opening a hatch isn’t quite enough. Our stateroom can get warm, but I didn’t want another appliance that needed to stay plugged in all night.
I bought this rechargeable portable fan because it seemed like a simple solution. It turned out to be one of those little products that works particularly well on a boat.
The telescoping stand is the clever part. I can put the fan on the floor beside the bed and extend it high enough for the breeze to actually reach us. No balancing a fan on a nightstand, moving things around or trying to find another convenient outlet.
Why It Works on a Boat
Because it’s rechargeable, I can charge it while the generator is running, or while we’re travelling, and then use it without leaving it plugged in. I especially like that at bedtime. I can turn it on, get comfortable, and fall asleep without something continuously drawing power from an outlet.
It’s also quiet. That’s important to me because there’s little point in cooling down the stateroom if the fan keeps me awake. And it produces a surprisingly good breeze for such a portable unit. The adjustable height lets me use it low or extend it when I want the air higher up.
The remote control may sound like a small luxury, until you’re tucked into bed and decide the fan needs to go down a speed. Then it becomes an excellent feature. 😂
What You Should Know
This isn’t something permanently installed onboard, which is exactly why I like it. I can move it wherever I need it, recharge it when necessary and tuck it away when I’m not using it.
For hot summer nights onboard, it’s become one of those simple conveniences I wouldn’t want to be without.
