Why I Love It
There are certain little luxuries aboard a boat that make an enormous difference, and dry slippers happen to be one of mine.
Anyone who boats in the Pacific Northwest knows the routine. You settle into the salon with your morning coffee, glance outside at the beautiful scenery and decide to step onto the aft deck. Unfortunately, the deck is still damp from last night’s rain. Now you have a choice: change your shoes or accept that your favourite slippers are about to become miniature sponges.
I prefer a third option.
My Dearfoams chenille slippers have become one of my favourite little comforts aboard. They’re wonderfully soft, with cushioned memory foam insoles, but the clever part is underneath. Unlike traditional house slippers, they have durable indoor/outdoor soles that let me pop outside without bringing the damp deck back into the salon.
The chenille uppers and cozy lining make them particularly lovely on cooler mornings, while Dearfoams’ DF Adapt technology helps regulate temperature. And because boat life occasionally involves spills, splashes and other indignities, they’re machine washable.
They’re not waterproof deck shoes, and I wouldn’t wear them for serious boat handling. But for padding around the salon, enjoying a morning coffee on the aft deck or simply putting my feet up after a day on the water, they’re rather wonderful. Sometimes the best boating accessories aren’t particularly nautical. They’re simply clever little comforts that make life aboard more enjoyable.
These navy knit Dearfoams are my not-so-secret deckside luxury. Stylish enough to pass muster in a marina brunch and smart enough to keep my feet dry when I pop outside with my coffee. They’re boat-proof, bougie, and Oprah-approved. What more could you want?
