Coastal Galley Book

I wrote Coastal Galley because it is the book I wish someone had handed me when I started boating. It would have saved me years of buying things that didn’t work, over-provisioning, and slowly figuring out the little systems that make cooking and organizing a galley so much easier.

Why I Wrote It

The ideas in Coastal Galley come from more than 30 years of boating, but they aren’t all mine. They are also things I’ve learned from friends, fellow boaters and mentors, the kind of knowledge that gets passed from one boat to another over dinner, on the dock or while someone is peering into your galley cupboard and saying, “Oh! That’s how you do that.”

The book covers provisioning, storage and organization, boat-friendly recipes, freezer and cooler tricks, equipment and some of the mistakes I’ve made along the way. Missy Goes Boating

Why It Works on a Boat / How I Use It

Everything in the book grew out of actually cooking, provisioning and organizing aboard. It’s about making the galley work for the way boaters really live, not recreating a land kitchen in a much smaller space.

I keep a copy on my own coffee table, and one of my favourite things is hearing another boater say, “I do that too!” Somehow those comments make the book feel less like mine and more like a collection of boating knowledge we’ve all shared over the years.

What You Should Know

This isn’t simply a cookbook. It’s a practical guide for both newer and experienced boaters who want smarter systems and less fuss in the galley.  It also makes a lovely gift for the boater who already seems to own everything.
